Two weeks after an earthquake and tsunami triggered a crisis at a nuclear plant, the facility is still not under control, and the government said Friday. There is a suspected breach at a reactor, which may have seeped into the groundwater.
A somber Prime Minister offered his apologies to farmers for the damage caused and he said that the situation at the plant doesn’t leave any room for optimism yet.
Meanwhile, the country continues a massive clean-up effort and the death toll is expected to exceed 18,000.
While US troops continued to bomb Libya, the North Korean Red Cross has made a surprise gift of US$100,000 to aid the survivors of the earthquake. Japan and North Korea do not have diplomatic relations.
