This is a very important speech by Thomas Drake, a former Senior Executive at NSA and a decorated United States Air Force and United States Navy veteran, who was charged under the Espionage Act after he blew the whistle on waste and fraud and illegal activity at the intelligence agency, spoke at a March 15, 2013 National Press Club luncheon.
He faced a 35-year jail sentence until the government’s case fell apart, with the judge saying, “It didn’t pass the smell test.”
He is the 2011 recipient of the Ridenhour Prize for Truth-Telling and co-recipient of the Sam Adams Associates for Integrity in Intelligence (SAAII) award.
