The ancient practice of fishing with a rod is now practiced on an industrial scale. Water jets break up the outline of the boat and mimic the commotion of bait fish, when under attack.

Live bait fish are thrown around the boat to keep the tuna into it. It’s all pretty low-tech but very, very effective.

Is this industrial system effective? The BBC seems to believe that tuna indeed are — due to their short life cycles.
