In China it’s called chi. In India it’s known as prana. The West calls it the soul. The religious say it’s a divine spark that connects humanity with the universe. Skeptics say it’s just brain chemistry.
Science has apparently disproven the soul, as was peddled by charlatans. Some say that the wilhelm Reich ended the search. Reich believed that libido was a real, physical energy — calling it orgone.
Orgone, he said, permeated the universe. Orgone treatment, he said, could treat disease. The Food and Drug Administration burned many of his findings.
