Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX – Ret.) was for many years seen as some kind of deity among the politically disenfranchised of America, many of them of college-age; young people who saw little hope for themselves, in a country which had been totally marauded and corrupted by previous generations.
Those others who did take notice of Ron Paul revered him for his courage to speak truth to power and to always make more sense than any of his “distinguished” colleagues during the Presidential debates, when it came to the topics involving America’s recent wars and the fundamental flaw of our economic system – which could be easily fixed – if America had it’s own bank. Instead, we have a foreign bank, disguised as America’s central bank, which issues debt, every time it prints more money.
Neither of Ron Paul’s ideas has held had any traction, in a government so bloated by military and corporate special interests, who’ve bribed all lawmakers to vote their way. And sadly, the most under-served Americans who were too uneducated to barely understand what Ron Paul was even talking about felt that they could not really stand behind him, either.
Finally, Ron decided that he had done as much as he could; he was getting along, in years and even though he did manage to pierce the glass ceiling of having his voice finally heard by a wider audience, via the Internet, he found that it was time for him to retire from office this past January, 2013.
Then along comes his son, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), onto whom all the hopes and dreams elicited by his father Ron, were superimposed. Rand Paul has been able to revive the climate of his father’s worldview and to speak some of the inspiring words, which resemble those of his father – but if you actually check his voting record, the sad truth is that Rand Paul is NOT going to follow in his father’s footsteps, as a maverick, setting out to save America from itself.
Two examples: Rand Paul voted *against* State’s Rights to label GMO food as such, late last year and more recently, he was part of the lunatic fringe who voted to shutdown the government.
It’s ma damned shame but in this case, it appears that the apple was blown to the other side of the football field from the tree…
