Young-Chan’s blindness – and since late childhood, deafness – add a raw dimension to his poetry. They’re also the reason he relies on his girlfriend, Soon-Ho, to get around and make sense of the world.
Soon-Ho has a chronic spine disease that eventually leave her unable to walk.
Their romance and the trailer from the film about them, ‘Planet of Snail,’ underscore the complex sets of interdependencies, with which all longterm relationships have to tangle – as well as the triumph of the human spirit over seemingly insurmountable physical challenges.
