This award-winning film by Peter Joseph was made during the World Financial Meltdown of 2008 and it seems just as appropriate to broadcast today as it did then, because virtually nothing has been done to alter the underlying problems which led to this catastrophe in the first place, which undoubtedly affected everybody reading this right now.
The film opens by stating that money is the most corrosive societal tradition and it explains the monetary system and its policies in the United States, through the fractional reserve banking system as illustrated in the book, “Modern Money Mechanics”.
In sum, the film’s open explains how money-creation, as an exchange between the government and its central bank (in the unfortunate case of the US, the Federal Reserve Bank), creates a perpetual cycle of interest and inflation, in which money and debt are necessarily correlated and constantly increasing.
