Perhaps not the production values one would expect of NatGeo but this clip does give a very accessible description of wormholes, as first proposed by Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen in 1935.

I think it’s important to note here that California Institute of Technology’s Sean Carroll PhD says that, “If you believe the speed of light is a ‘speed limit,’ a wormhole provides you a way, *maybe* to still go slower than the speed of light…it’s really just a shortcut through space, itself.”
