Chimpanzees and humans evolved apart over 6 million years ago, but they are still our closest living relatives. Dogs and wolves are closely related and they interbreed to this day.
Would it be possible to create a human-chimpanzee hybrid? Mechanically the parts don’t fit together two well. But thirdly, humans and chimps have different numbers of chromosomes, which would compromise the development of embryos.
But horribly, scientists have tried to make it all so.
