Dr. Rupert Sheldrake, a biochemist, first introduced the concept of morphic fields in 1981. This was his hypothesis regarding immaterial fields which inform and serve as an energetic blueprint for creation.

His hypothesis has been mainly rejected by the scientific mainstream, despite his having found much more evidence supporting his theory, during the intervening years.

In his lecture “The Science Delusion”, Sheldrake points out how science is a dogmatic as any fundamentalist religion, which prevents science from overcoming its own seriously lacking and myopic, materialistic world view, which is known as “scientism,” whereby thoughts and life, itself are merely products of random chemical reactions.
