While the world wrings its hands over the political turmoil in Ukraine, many forget that this was the country where the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was built and that the toxic Exclusion Zone has reverted to a wilderness, filled with radioactive wolves and other animals with scary genetic mutations.
Until the deceptions end, surrounding the Fukushima worst-case-scenario, which continues to be a toxin-spewing disaster on a global scale, Chernobyl is still officially being called the “worst nuclear disaster in history.”
It’s a totally cr@ppy quibble, really, to try to determine which one is the “worst ever” – the one that is already directly-attributable to over a million deaths (and counting) or the one that is currently brewing possibly 5 or more times as many?
