Pat Tillman was a great financial success — playing in the National Football League as a safety for the Arizona Cardinals.
After 9/11 he enlisted, giving it all up — to go to Afghanistan to hunt Osama bin Laden. ABC says that he was upset because of the Iraq War’s (relatively, anyway) illegality.
The Bush administration tied to sell Tillman’s death as heroic, having been cut down by America’s “enemies” in Iraq. In fact he died from “friendly fire.”
