Despite numerous studies and testimonials evincing the powerful therapeutic effects of psychedelic drugs, governments continue to collude to criminalize the compounds, which do not pose the same direct risks as the largely legal and popular nicotine and alcohol. Anti-alcoholism icon Bill Wilson, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, believed that his organization’s 13th step to recovery should be a commandment to use LSD. Are governments criminalizing psychedelics to rob humanity of meaning and healing?
