Up to seven meters long and weighing more than one ton, the black caiman is heavier thank both the buffalo or the grizzly bear. It is the largest predator of the Americas and definitely the least studied.
What’s less known is that adult caimans will actually protect baby caimans – and one guide has mastered the distress call of the babies – and is able to get several adults to scramble into the water to “save” them!
