TRANSCRIPT

Ezekiel Chapters 38 and 39 are considered by many Bible scholars to be among the more difficult prophetic passages in scripture. As a result, there is no general consensus regarding the interpretation of these two chapters. Because this prophecy is one of the more debated topics, it is important that we first clearly outline our perspectives as we interpret this passage of scripture.

Gog and Magog appear in Ezekiel Chapter 38 and 39 and in Revelation 20:7-8. I believe this may be a case where the specific fulfillment of the prophecy is not truly understood until its fulfillment.

Two of the biggest controversies are the chronological placement of the prophecy and the nature of the battle described. Those who hold the Pre-millennial View believe Ezekiel’s prophecy will be fulfilled in a future event before the millennium, while Revelation reference to Gog and Magog is Post-millennial.

Others who hold the post-millennial view believe both references point to the same post-millennial event, interpreting the prophecies symbolically, rather than chronologically.

Another area Bible scholars do not completely agree on is the nature of the battle; whether it may be a literal or symbolic battle, there is debate over whether the battles described are literal military conflicts or symbolic representations of spiritual battles between good and evil.

We will approach this sermon assuming that they describe actual events and we will be taking a Pre-millennial View. Although these two passages use the same names, a careful study of scripture shows that they do not refer to the same people or events. The events are separated by at least 1,000 years. In Ezekiel’s prophecy, Gog is depicted as the leader of a vast army that launches an attack on peaceful and unsuspecting Israel.

We see this in Ezekiel 38:1. Gog is described as coming from the land of Magog and as the Prince of Rash, Mesek and Tubal.

We see this in Ezekiel 38: 2 and 3. the timing of this battle has been the subject of much debate among scholars and theologians, leading to the development of two primary theories regarding when this event might occur.

Theory One: Before the tribulation begins. This theory suggests that th Battle of Gog and Magog will take place before the Tribulation period begins. Proponents of this view highlight several key points from the text to support their argument.

For instance, after the battle the people of Israel will spend 7 years burning the enemy’s weapons and over 7 months burying the dead, as described in the 39th chapter of the Book of Ezekiel, the extended period required for these activities suggests that the battle must occur at a time when Israel has the stability and capacity to undertake such efforts, which is believed to be before the Tribulation.

Furthermore, this view aligns with the idea that the battle could happen even before the Rapture of the Church, since the Tribulation is characterized by widespread chaos and divine judgments.

A pre-Tribulation battle would provide the necessary time frame for Israel to manage the aftermath of such a significant conflict. This interpretation also allows for the prophetic timeline to accommodate other eschatological events described in scripture without overlapping the intense period of the Tribulation.

Theory Two: During the first part of the 7-year tribulation, the second theory suggests that the battle will occur during the first part of the 7-year tribulation period. This perspective is primarily based on the description of Israel being at peace when the attack begins. The peace and security that Israel enjoys at this time are believed to be the result of a covenant with the Antichrist, as outlined in the prophecy of Daniel’s 70th week, as seen in Daniel 9:27.

According to this view, the covenant made with the Antichrist brings a temporary period of peace to Israel, making it peaceful and unsuspecting when when Gog and his forces launch their attack.

This fits within the broader narrative of the Tribulation, where initial peace is followed by sudden destruction and turmoil. The notion that the battle happens during the Tribulation also aligns with other prophetic scriptures that depict escalating conflict and divine intervention during this period.

Ezekiel 38:14-23

Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: and thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; so that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother. And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

In this passage of scripture, we see that Gog will come from the north with a massive army and God will allow this invasion so that the nations will know Him when he demonstrates His Holiness through Gog’s defeat.

When Gog invades, God’s Fury will be kindled. As a result, there will be a massive earthquake in Israel, affecting all creatures and the entire landscape. Mountains will be overturned, cliffs will fall and walls will crumble then God proceeds on to causing infighting among the invading troops of Gog and then a series of divine judgments.

There will be torrential rain, hailstones, fire and brimstone. The Bible states that it will take 7 months to bury the dead and 7 years to dispose of the enemy’s weapons. The lengthy burial process indicates the vast number of casualties, while the extended period for burning weapons underscores the scale of the invading forces and the thoroughness of Israel’s cleanup efforts.

This extended timeline also highlights the magnitude of God’s deliverance and the subsequent peace and restoration for Israel.

Now that we have looked at the Book of Ezekiel, let us turn our attention to the Book of Revelation, where Gog and Magog are also mentioned.

Revelation 20: 7-10

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

In contrast, the battle described in Revelation 20: verses 7 to 8 occurs at the end of the Thousand-Year reign of Jesus, known as the “Millennium” or the “Millennial Reign”.

After this period of peace and righteousness, Satan is released from his prison and deceives the Nations, referred to symbolically as Gog and Magog, together for a final assault on the Camp of the Saints in the Beloved City, which is Jerusalem.

We cannot be certain whether the saints mentioned in this context are the glorified Saints who reign alongside Jesus or those who come to faith in him during the Millennium.

Regardless of their identity, the strategy of this immense Satanic army is unmistakable. Their objective is to annihilate God’s people and target the headquarters or capital city of his administration, which is Jerusalem.

Often referred to as the Beloved City, this massive force under Satan’s command aims to lay waste to both the faithful followers of Jesus and the central hub of his Divine governance.

Key distinctions include the timing. This battle takes place at the end of the Millennium after a thousand years of Christ’s Reign on Earth. It is the final rebellion against God before the creation of the New Heaven and New Earth.

The participants, unlike the more localized invasion in Ezekiel, this battle involves nations from all over the world, symbolizing a universal uprising against God.

Armies come from all directions, not just the north, as seen in Ezekiel’s invasion.

Satan’s role: Satan is explicitly mentioned as the instigator of this rebellion. He is the one pulling the strings, gathering the forces. His release, after a thousand years and subsequent deception of the nations highlight his central role in this End Times event outcome.

The result is immediate and final: Fire comes down from Heaven and devours the attacking forces and Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire, marking his ultimate defeat.

There is no mention of burying the dead or burning weapons, as this marks the end of the current world order, leading directly to the Great White Throne of  Judgment.

In summary, while both passages mention Gog and Magog, they refer to entirely different events. Ezekiel’s battle takes place before or during the Tribulation;  involves a northern coalition and serves to bring Israel back to God.

The detailed descriptions of the aftermath, including the burying of the dead for seven months and the burning of weapons for 7 years underscore the temporal and logistical nature of this conflict within the Tribulation context.

Revelation’s battle occurs after the Millennium involves a global coalition and marks the final rebellion against God, ending with the ultimate defeat of Satan. This event does not not involve the same detailed aftermath as in Ezekiel but rather signifies the culmination of God’s plan for judgment and renewal.

Understanding these distinctions helps to clarify the prophetic timeline and the unique purposes of each event within God’s overarching plan. Recognizing the different contexts and outcomes of these battles underscores the complexity and richness of Biblical prophecy, highlighting God’s sovereignty and ultimate victory over over evil.

Across different stages of Redemptive history, praise be to God, for He, alone is Sovereign over all creation, reigning Supreme over kings, presidents and nations. His authority is unparalleled, His power unmatched and His wisdom beyond comprehension.

No one can challenge God, for He is in a league all by himself. When evil men with their vast armies rise up to defy Him, they stand no chance. Their plans crumble to dust before His might. God is in control of world events and the unfolding of history, directing all things according to His Divine will.

God is completely sovereign over the closing and opening of the womb. Men and women do not ultimately have control over whether they will conceive a child. It is always and ever in God’s hand. God is also sovereign over everything including evil.

In general, God is sovereign over life and death. God is also sovereign over people and their hearts. That includes you and me. God is sovereign over the rise and fall of nations. He establishes governments and rulers and He deposes them, according to His will.

History unfolds according to His Divine plan, with every event serving his ultimate purpose God is Sovereign over the natural world. He commands the seas and the skies, controls the weather and governs the laws of nature. Every aspect of Creation, from the smallest atom to the largest galaxy operates under His authority.

God is Sovereign over time. He exists outside of time and orchestrates the past present and future to fulfill His eternal purposes. Our days are numbered by Him and each moment is held with within His providential care.

God is Sovereign over our circumstances. He knows the details of our lives and works all things together for our good and His glory. Our trials and triumphs, joys and sorrows are all under His control.

God is sovereign over salvation. He calls people to Himself, transforms hearts and grants the gift of faith. Our redemption is entirely His work, accomplished through the sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ.

God is Sovereign over the church. He builds his body of believers, equipping and guiding them for his mission. The growth and perseverance of the church are sustained by His power. In all things, God’s sovereignty assures us of His ultimate authority and His unwavering commitment to His purposes.

We can trust in His perfect wisdom and timing, knowing that He reigns supreme over all Creation. God’s supreme authority is not only a testament to his greatness but also a source of profound comfort for us. In a world where chaos and uncertainty often reign, we can find peace in knowing that God is in charge.

His sovereignty is not the harsh rule of a tyrant but the loving governance of a wise and just king. His plans are perfect and His purposes are good. This truth is a pillow on which we can peacefully rest our heads each night, secure in the knowledge that our lives are held in His capable hands.

When we reflect on God’s sovereignty, we see that it is the foundation of our faith. If God is in control, then we need not be. We are freed from the burden of trying to manage everything ourselves; from the anxiety of believing that everything depends on our efforts.

God’s sovereignty means that the forces that seem to manipulate our destiny, our health, our relationships, our political landscape, our government, our sin patterns, our weaknesses and our heartaches are all under His control. He is weaving all these threads into his perfect tapestry, working all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

In the grand narrative of history, God’s hand is evident. He raises up leaders and brings them down. He directs the course of nations and the fate of empires. Nothing happens outside of His will, from the rise and fall of ancient kingdoms, to the shifting powers of modern politics, God is orchestrating his Divine plan. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.

All things find their origin and fulfillment in Him. Consider the times when we face personal trial and uncertainties, it is in these moments that the sovereignty of God shines as a beacon of hope. When our health fails ,when relationships falter, when political turmoil shakes our confidence, we can trust that God is still in control. He holds our future and He knows the plans He has for us; plans to prosper us and not to harm us; plans to give us hope and a future.

His authority over our lives brings stability in the midst of chaos and peace in the face of turmoil. God’s sovereignty also assures us of his justice in a world where injustice often prevails. We can trust that God will set all things right. He is the righteous judge and his judgments are true and fair. Every wrong will be made right. Every evil will be punished and every good will be rewarded.

His justice will prevail and His kingdom will come in its fullness. Moreover, God’s supreme authority scores His grace and mercy though He is all-powerful, he is also all-loving.

He does not wield His power to dominate but to save. In His sovereignty, He sent His son, Jesus Christ to redeem the world through his death and resurrection. We have been given the gift of eternal life this is the ultimate expression of His control and His love. He has made a way for us to be reconciled to Him; to be part of His eternal kingdom.

  • Alexandra,

You did a lovely job on the Transcript; as You are Lovely, in all quarters; that is to be sure.

When You do a job, it is Heart Felt.

A truely Timely piece, to Post, at this Time.
    ……………….

Throughout Cyber Space perhaps a couple of people, may understand and agree with my comment, as I know most of the readers, will be upset.

The Pharoahs and a few people around them, Wrote the Bible, and Created a One God Religion.

The Jews being their First Product, because the Jews were their Slaves for 400 years, at that time.

The Bible says that the Pharoahs and their Armies disappeared into the Sea, a metaphor, they disappeared into the Sea of Peoples, blending in and becoming the Invisible, Enemy within.
This being part of the Aristocracy, on a new level.

The Bible is a Script, that has been followed, nothing Prophetic about it.

Gog and Magog, have both taken Place in time and history.

Presently we are in the after millenium Part, Pisces to Aquarius.

Isreal was set-up, on two levels, firstly, this Land becoming a Country.

Secondly, it is called a State, because it was set up as a 99 year lease, such as Hong Kong, Northern Ireland and South Africa etc.

This Tricked Jews and kept them as Scapegoats, as throughout History, because at t he beginning, they wanted to go their own way.

These Leases are An agreement between Empires, its purpose is Profit (Financial, also in this case Technologies).

This Lease Had a Thorn in its side, the Palestinians, intentional, this would be the reason given to start the War….and build more Hatred against the Jews.

The Land in question is called SHAAM.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syria_(region)#Geography

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaam_(disambiguation)

HAMAS is an anagram of SHAAM, remember this part goes back a Century.

SHAAM was part of the Ottoman Empire, with a small piece being Syrian.
The Caliphate of Turkey ruled it.

Now it appears that when, the smokescreen clears, Israel will disappear, along with most of its People.
The worlds hatred will subdue any guilt feelings.
The killing started with Pfizer and others JABS.

Now at this point The Vatican will Rule Jerusalem, through the Habsburg Dynasty, not the Turkish Sultan.

A Throne will be placed on the Stone of Scone, with a Habsburg sitting on it…..His title will be King of the World…..back to the Old Verticle Rule.

Now….there is no AntiChrist, it is AnteChrist, meaning before Christ…..so the New Religion will be Gaia, a world religion of Earth.

That is it in a nutshell.

Complications that might occur, is that Islam desides that it wants The Chaliphate to rule…..so WW III.

7 is the number for the Pyramid, so 7 months to bury the dead might be a reference to souls in the pyramid.
7 years to burn the weapons, might be the time for the radiation to disperse, or revamp the area so to control it.

These are the plans of the Aristocracy, the agenda 21, NWO…..Swiss German Nazi Templars.

Remember that Switzerland is HQ for the Aristocracy, and they own and run the Vatican…..along with the rest of the world.

    • Ooooh – I have to jump into a podcast right now but I can’t wait to read and dig into this comment. Thank you, Ed!

  • The author, Lion Of Judah is a RUSSIAN DECEIVER, who has a LOT of influence… Who knows, LOT OF RUSSIANS were installed on the entire INter-net, in order to SPY, LIE and DECEIVE…
DO NOT TRUST A THING of this interpretation of Bible. READ IT FOR YOURSELF and pray for its understanding…
Avoid that Lion Of Judah, like a PEST!

    • The deceiver locates everywhere around the world in the name of authority.
Same shit, difference faces, and that’s what the legend is about.

  • The author of this entry, so called Lion Of Judah, a russian, is having a BIG sub-stack with all the news, almost always deceiving all readers with the word covid ‘vaccine’… Trusting Bible is one thing, but trusting somebody’s interpretation of it, in particular in regard to future, is something completely different. BY DEFINITION, not trusting Russians seems always a big advantage…, no matter how deep their believe system..

    • Isn’t that easier to say trust no one but own common sense?

And this world isn’t clear as black / white, Christians VS others – other than for beings such as Yaldaboath (or Jealous god) “claiming” his creation to be good (while he was harsh and mislead people) while cursing his own creation.
There is no excuse for being evil for destroying his own creation, there’s no excuse for being evil by killing / extermination enemy’s women & children, and accepting blood sacrifice.

So New Testament with somewhat better example (named Jesus) had to come in order to show the blind sheeple what the true meaning of “good”
-though that apparently didn’t help much, because as for today, sheeple are still sheeple, they still cherry pick & use the verses in order to suit their own narratives (rather than looking into self-improvement) just as bunches of psyops wearing white sheep(lab) cloth in the name of “freedom community” or so, speaking from the same corrupt virology, pushing their V narrative without ever admitting their own mistake (wrongfully spreading fear narrative without evidence), with/without realizing that they are the part of the problem, this goes the same with wolves wearing black suit acting like our authority, which isn’t limited to Russia.

There are too many hypocrites from all kinds of religions today (just as both Right and Left wings turned out to be equally stupid), so if you are supposedly one of them, reading books won’t matter much (or perhaps, better not even touching the book as it would be better for them not having knowledge if their deed is evil).

  • I have been resisting these time and treasure wasting ear tickling speculations for years!

It’s all a distraction away from the core instructions for life and it has sponsors. Can you guess who they are?

Evangelicals have been reduced to a bunch of sky gazing squabbling defeatists who have given up on their culture because of these speculations. Whatever faith they have left seems to be all wrapped up in the destiny of political, temporal Zion!

Whatever became of their kingdom of G-d and their King Jesus? I’ll tell you what happened to that realm of rule -they gave it all up for a personal schmooze with a Jesus of their own imaginations, who is coming back to the temporal land to reestablish the very sacrificial system he destroyed in the first century!

In a word that’s just plain nuts!

    • Bosco, I respectfully submit that your faith is in a 20th century scoffer claiming the name of Jason (blank). It is always right to question such a one’s credentials. He doesn’t seem to be fortcoming in this regard. Anybody can author books and other means of communication, as many and much as they can afford. Authorship without careful analysis is not a qualifying element for anything.

Cherry picking Christian scriptures is what has caused so much confusion, especially when cherry pickers then cherry pick certain ancient writings to reinforce their bias. This is why trustworthy credentialed scholarship is so necessary. Families of trustworthy scholars who will naturally have biases! Honest researchers will consider them all without being quick to decide who to throw in with. Otherwise it would be humanly impossible for anyone to single-handedly process all ancient writings in one lifetime. Impossible!

Jason boasts disbelief in Moses, claims he was a fictional character for lack of evidence. May I call your attention to the 20th century discovery by Christians of the real Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia right where scriptures claimed it is all along and it’s divinely preserved evidences—in stone! And shall we also consider evidences of the Exodus crossing the Red Sea? There are lots of evidences that apparently your teacher has not taken into account.

Maybe you should consider some other teacher.
