Zbigniew Brzezinski was national security adviser to Jimmy Carter and currently a top Obama foreign policy adviser.
In 1979 he supervised a covert operation to fund and train the Afghan mujahideen, which would form the base of al-Qaeda. It was then that he flew to Pakistan to “rally resistance.” He urged the “soldiers of God” to redouble their effort.
Brzezinski told these fanatics that their cause was right and that God was on their side.
