The oldest Caucasian mummy in Taklimakan is the 4,000-year-old “Beauty of a Loulan,” and the most recent is 2,500 years old. The question has been asked as to what happened to these ancient white people who were in Central Asia. The obvious answer is that they mixed in with local Asians and today’s population of Uyghurs in Western China are some of their descendants.

Decades of repression of the Uyghur ethnic group by their own government, The People’s Republic of China exploded in riots in July 2009.
