Plato’s uncompleted dialogue Critias contains the earliest known written reference to the Lost City of Atlantis.
Plato, the authoritative recorder of Socrates’ own words, said that Atlantis had been “insolently advancing to attack the whole of Europe and Asia.”
It was alleged that the great civilization — larger than both Asia and Libya, according to Plato — was wiped out by a great disaster. Could this be true?
