We are the worse Banana Republic. I lived in a foreign “Banana Republic” and their political corruption was more simple, transparent and “innocent”. It would go like this – a govt official would come to a new development being run by expats and say “I need a new kitchen” or “I need new windows on my house. ” They also took kicks from drug runners. Big Deal! Compared to what goes on in the US govt I respect that type of Banana Republic way more than what I’ve seen here. Amazing.
