This is a potential hoax and all the more fascinating because it appears to be being propagated by the Iranian government.

“This flying saucer UFO, is not alien, rather of terrestrial origins and made by Iran. Later, the craft was formally revealed in Tehran. Iran reveals unmanned flying saucer at strategic technologies exhibition.
“The unmanned flying saucer, Zohal, was revealed at ceremony with Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
“Zohal, created by Farnas Aerospace Company and Iranian Aviation and Space Industries Association (IASIA) is equipped with auto-pilot system, GPS and two 10 mega-pixel cameras able to take and transmit images simultaneously.
“Evidently, the craft is used for surveillance.”
