This video comes from defense contractor BAE systems, and it’s a test of the production standard escape system for the F-35 Lightning II jet. The more than 3,000 F-35 systems operated by militaries across the globe have this system.
To provide a simulation of the stresses normally faced by pilots, it was put through the rigors of 600 miles per hour on a test track. BAE did about 30 of these tests in the United States, France, as well as the United Kingdom.
