This is a little-known story because it is only recently coming to light, through the work of a new generation of archeologists. The pyramids of Caral, Peru date from 2,600 BC making it one of the earliest known civilizations on Earth and as old as the pyramids of Egypt
Caral is a large complex of pyramids, temples, an amphitheatre and dwellings. There is no trace of warfare at Caral; no fortresses, no weapons, etc. All evidence suggests that it was a gentle society, built on commerce and pleasure. Archeologists have found evidence of a culture that took drugs and perhaps aphrodisiacs.
