A beef burger grown in a laboratory in Holland tastes ‘close to meat’, according to two volunteers who are the first to taste it. The burger is fried and served to two food experts who agree it lacks the fattiness of normal meat but has a similar “mouthfeel”.

The meat takes three months to grow in a laboratory from stem cells taken from a cow.
