The disruptive influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI)  was a key topic in the recent 2016 Economic Conference in Davos, Switzerland.

DJ from Level9News breaks down the three major steps in the takeover of AI in daily human tasks. The first wave were the robots which construct cars and the like, or what she calls, “narrow-based AI”; the second wave is upon us now, which is the incorporation of of AI into virtually every facet of our lives, including all aspects of production, distribution, finance, the dissemination of information, our increasing reliance on these technologies, including in the way that we communicate with one another. This phase is incorporating AI or AGI and ASI (Artificial Superintelligence).

The third and final wave is on the horizon and it will render humans obsolete. It will present in a phase of total ASI; dominance over everything for its own survival and evolution.

It is predicted that within 5 years, 47% of the global workforce will yield to total automation. Within the following 5 to 10 years, we’ll be facing a world without work. The fact is common knowledge among the tech giants. They’ve been “gearing down” for this for a number of years.

With this inevitability of 0% employment on the event horizon, Silicon Valley led a “basic income Create-A-Thon” aka, a government-distributed basic living wage.

    • To: Lindy Loo – Sorry to tell you, but there has not been a middle class for Centuries. The Middle class is a product of the Industrial Revolution…

    • Robots are NOT the problem. Capitalism is the problem. If robots take over the work force, and humans have less to do – that is a great thing. More time for creativity and forward progress. Let robots do the brainless tasks, let them do whatever it is they can do to take the burden off of humans who toil every minute of every day just to put food on the table. It is Capitalism that is the real burden of humanity. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF PEOPLE GOT PAID FOR DOING WHAT THEY LOVE TO DO? Those who are good healers, got paid for healing – those good at teaching got paid to teach – and all of us made a good living at what we loved to do. I would guess that humanity would expand its horizons – yea, EVOLVE! The world would grow by leaps and bounds, and a new renaissance would propel humanity into a new and better place. But, What-a-Wino? I’m only human.

    • Don Bill: Good luck with THEM even considering Asimov’s 3 Laws being embedded into all robots to “protect” humans, unless it’s the 1% who gets robotic “protection!” The total subjugation and “mindless obedience” of The Middle Class has been underway for centuries…not just the past 239.8 years of American history! “It is, what it is” so get used to it!

    • “I’m not against AI as long as it’s not controlled solely by the 1% that is controlling us, but rather by the 99%, which means all of us. ”
I agree but, being that the one percent is in control now then how can the ninetynine percent ever be in control of the AI. Now maybe we see why we are expendable.

    • We might survive if Asimov’s 3 laws are embedded into all robots:

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

    • I’m not against AI as long as it’s not controlled solely by the 1% that is controlling us, but rather by the 99%, which means all of us.
