Juan O Savin: Hey, Mark, you got a slide on there. Can you throw that up for a minute? I just want to say something real quick. I’m sure a bunch of you will see it, and it’s disturbing.
We’ve had a great conference, haven’t we? Yeah. Yeah, pretty good? OK.
Did you get a lot of details that you don’t think were other places? I mean, was there any speaker we were going to throw out? You know, I mean, the other day, Mitch was a little dry in what he had, but you saw him here, he’s a very high style, fashionable guy. But the material is hard. You’ve got to go through. And I know you’re a little bit tired, but he wasn’t just presenting it for us here, he was presenting it to be on the [internet].
Now, I have not heard what was said while I was prepping. And I did give, this is a friend [Tore], has been a friend, but I gave her some time that was not [scheduled], that was extra time early, just so she could do it. But I don’t think it’s right that we’re being referred to this way.
This is you guys, so if you think that you got a bunch of bullsh¡t here, maybe you make a comment out there and let your opinion be out there. I’ll listen later and see what I think.
But I think it’s inappropriate if you got a different opinion or something like that to come in and drop a turd in the middle of a beautiful gathering like this, and it’s disrespectful.
But I’ll leave it at that for the moment. This is someone [Tore] who has done important work at different times, has a history. And yet, we had dinner the night before. I’m personally pretty shocked.
So I’ll have to look at what was said, and I’ll probably have something more to say. And I need to talk with this person, and I need to talk with some of the other people involved, get to the details, because I don’t know all the details.
But it’s very upsetting to me that you got a difference of opinion, or a thought, or an accusation. In this context, we’re not going after others within the team here. And I think I would like to have at least known what was going on before it was done in this way.
But you’re out there in the internet. Most of the people in the conference and out over the internet, you’ve got access to stuff. Go look at it.
Look at the material that was presented. I mean, I’d hate to think that all the people who made tremendous sacrifices to be here were not giving you anything of great substance. I think they did.
So I don’t know where it’s coming from. It’s a lot of personal sacrifice. I don’t know how many times Matt and I have had to do stuff to make this conference happen. A lot of personal time. Mr. Ahern did all the stuff he did here to change the layout for us. We haven’t gotten the speaker situation completely solved, but there’s some sound deadening that has to be done.
And then, we’ll try to do that before March and get some help. I just think that as a team, and I have a team mentality with everything we’re doing, you guys are all a piece of this. So it would bother me if everybody traveled from all over the country, all over the world, and then I had to feel like I didn’t give anything of great substance.
And by the way, a lot of the stuff that was done here, I think it’s like I’ve said before, you go to a Trump rally. It’s a lot of “Rah, rah!” It’s hanging out with other like-minded people, having a lot of personal conversations, closing ranks between each other.
The conference like this isn’t just for what we hear from the speakers and like that. It’s an excuse to come, close ranks, enjoy each other, get a lot of little other details, community stuff. It’s something more than just coming to listen to somebody with all the latest details, etc.
And even out over the internet, we’re closing ranks on information, looking at strategies, what has to happen. If we have some difference of opinion, then I actually think that’s healthy most of the time. We’re not attacking each other.
If I got a difference of opinion, I want to have that conversation. A couple of the speakers here, when we first talked, even over the last many months and years, will tell you that my very first conversation with them was over something that we differed on. And we worked through it, and then finally kind of understood where each other were coming from.
We don’t have to say, “I agree with you,” but I understand where you’re coming from. And then we look, what stuff do we agree on? What stuff do we don’t? And try to see how we come up with good solutions, anyway. That’s part of being this team that we are.
I don’t want to give favor to things that would be ultimately internally destructive. If there’s things we need to address, let’s address them. Let’s work together on them. But let’s not blow up something. And if there’s something, if it’s an opinion, “80% of the people were just blowing smoke?”
Which 80% of the people here were just – was Mitch blowing smoke? Is David Kinney blowing smoke? Those are real details. When I told people of the problem in the bond market in the Japanese market, was that just opinion? And it’s happening right now?
So sometimes you do have to be vocal, be courteous, but hold your ground. If you had a good conference, we’re going to do other stuff. I would hope other people wouldn’t be, “Oh, yeah, I’m never going to one of those. I found out now. We know what the real story is. I’m not going to.”
