We’re Addicted to Aggravation

I remember when Will Smith was 17 and I was a 22-year-old associate producer at MTV. He was then known as the Fresh Prince and he’d just had his first hit single, “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and was quickly shooting from obscurity to global stardom. He came up from Philly to New York for the day and we shot segments for ‘Yo! MTV Raps’ and I remember being extremely impressed by him on that day and I’ve continued to be impressed by him over the years.

Apparently, he’s getting divorced now and he’s been acting up on social media but I just love what he’s saying here. There’s something very addictive within human nature that the 24-hour news cycle, the Internet, video games, cellphones, junk foods and opioids are bringing to a crazy head in our culture and I think it’s just great that he’s talking about it.
