This interview of Webster Tarpley about his book, ‘The Postmodern Coup: The Making of a Manchurian Candidate’ was conducted in October of 2008, just before the first election of Barack Obama for President of the US. Tarpley makes predictions about the imminent future of the geopolitical landscape, should he be have been elected, based on his knowledge of the people who backed and advised Obama – and as far as foreign policy strategy, it’s been 100% Zbigniew Brzezinski all the way.

It’s interesting, in retrospect to understand Brzezinski’s overall vision and how much of it has been accomplished so far – and if the ultimate fantasy of this real-life Dr. Strangelove will be achieved by 2017. Below are notes that I took from Tarpley’s interview:

“He is a product of finance capital of the worst possible circles: David Rockefeller, George Soros and this group (Zbigniew Brzezinski). And their program is one of extreme austerity, savage reductions in the standard of living and basically, the immiseration and impoverishment of the United States.

“In terms of foreign policy, it’s this plan to have a global showdown with Russia and China. So, for that, they need a Left cover. Now, Right-wingers don’t know how to attack this, they either want to attack him for being a Communist, which I think is not accurate – because he’s a servant of finance capital – how could he be a Communist? Or that he’s a Muslim, because his middle name’s Hussein.

“He lived in Indonesia (the most populous Muslim nation in the world) for a while and may have considered himself a Muslim for a while. I would note that the two fathers that he’s he had, the first of them from Kenya, his biological father who abandoned him, this guy called Barack Hussein Obama Sr. and then, an Indonesian, a man called Lolo Soetoro. Both of them, it seems to me were more devoted to Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch Whiskey than they ever were to Islam, so I don’t think that the Muslim connection would make any sense – but I would add one thing: If you’re running to be the President of the United States, you’re asking to put your finger on the button – there’s a thermonuclear button that launches Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles with H-bombs on them.

“…the guy is a puppet of the worst sort of circles of Imperialism.”

Especially in politics, it is of the utmost importance to try to look behind the facade: who makes up the team of the presidential candidate? The future president of the United States of America is for a large part dependent on and being fed by his team of advisors and future cabinet members.

Webster Tarpley wrote a book on the men and women behind presidential hopeful, Barack Obama. He argues that there is more to Obama than his charismatic appearance and that some of his advisors pose a danger to the US and the world in case Obama might be elected to become the next US president. Whether Tarpley’s view is correct for now is a matter of opinion and remains to be seen, but for the public debate it is relevant to take note of his facts and arguments.

Therefore, DeepJournal interviewed Webster Tarpley on the topic of his recently published book Obama, ‘The Postmodern Coup: The Making of a Manchurian Candidate’.
