Hey gang, it's me, Dr Steve, your Back Porch Professor. I hope you're all having a wonderful, beautiful October weekend, but I can certainly tell you who's not. And that, of course would be the one and only James Talarico.
It does appear that we now know where he was when he went missing over the course of those 13 days. Many of you may know that he finally emerged yesterday at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. He didn't – it was very strange – he didn't take any questions, no comments on camera. He just shook some hands, posed for some photos, and that was it. He was out of there.
It was a very brief appearance. And even the legacy media have been doing absolutely everything they possibly can to cover this up. So he's a Democrat, right? So, Democrats are always treated by the legacy media as innocent until proven guilty.
And good luck with trying to do that. But if he had been, if this had been Ken Paxton doing this, if Paxton had suddenly dropped off the campaign trail for two weeks, it would have been treated as the biggest scandal in the history of Midterms, right? But even the lying legacy media had to admit that Talarico had only campaigned for like 15 minutes total yesterday. And again, this is after he literally vanished from public campaigning, from any public appearance, any public interaction at all of any kind for upwards of two weeks.
Utterly extraordinary, unprecedented absence for sure, especially in light of the fact that this Texas campaign is one of the most, if not the most expensive Senate race in American history, attracting roughly $400 million in spending. So in light of that, a number of political analysts have been saying that it obviously makes no sense for a serious candidate to stop holding campaign events just weeks before the Midterms, especially without offering the public a clear, coherent explanation. Now, keep in mind, in-person early voting in Texas starts in like 10 days.
So again, this was utterly baffling. So in the midst of all of this, there have been a number of reports – and in fairness, they're uncorroborated, they're not verified reports – but we talked about this in yesterday's live stream.
Talarico may have suffered some kind of mental breakdown and had to check into a treatment center. So according to these reports, Talarico spent much of the last two weeks in a psych ward.
Now, up until now, we did not have any verification of this. Up until now. Caroline Wren, a Republican political strategist and fundraiser who's independently investigating Talarico's absence – effectively doing the legacy media's job for them, right – she examined publicly available flight tracking information after receiving a tip that Talarico may have been receiving treatment at a facility in the state of Ohio.
Now, according to her account, a private plane left Austin October 8th and flew to a small airport in Hamilton, Ohio. That airport is approximately 20 minutes from the Lindner Center of Hope. That's a private mental health treatment facility.
According to flight records that Wren examined, that aircraft basically parked overnight. It then departed around 9 a.m. the following morning and it landed back in Austin at approximately 10, 24 a.m. just before Talarico appeared at the music festival in the early afternoon.
Now, in fairness, we don't know who owned or chartered the aircraft, who was aboard it, or why it traveled to Ohio, but we do have a very interesting point of contact, and that's Harris County Judge Lena Hidalgo.
Lena Hidalgo is another prominent Texas Democrat. She is very close with Talarico, and she has publicly discussed receiving psychological treatment in the past. Do you wanna take a guess where she got that treatment? It was none other than the Lindner Center of Hope in Ohio.
So she, many are asking, what are the chances that a private plane took off from Austin and flew to a tiny Hamilton airport in Ohio, just 20 minutes away from this private, inpatient mental health facility that Talarico's good friend had previously been admitted to?
And then turned around and flew back to Austin, landing yesterday morning, right before James Talarico magically reappears at the Austin City Limits Music Festival that afternoon, without giving any press conferences or interviews or any public explanation for his whereabouts over the last two weeks.
Again, it's still circumstantial. Obviously, the clinic can't release its patients' names, but something does indeed appear to be here.
I mean, we have to remember that Talarico has been touted by the legacy media as being on the verge of pulling off what no Democrat, not even Obama, has been able to do in over three decades, and that is flip Texas blue. How is it even conceivable that such a person with that kind of momentum disappears in the campaign trail for nearly two weeks, just days before early voting starts in Texas? Did Obama do that?
Gang, even – I've heard analogies with Biden – even Biden, from his basement gave interviews every day in 2020. He didn't suddenly disappear without any plausible explanation.
Moreover, his friendship with Lena Hidalgo and her experience with that psych clinic is not speculation, that's hard fact. And the private plane in question left Austin, parked, came back to Austin in a matter of hours, and boom, there's Talarico.
So all of this is to say that if Talarico's campaign managers thought a quick photo-op and a couple of handshakes at a music festival was enough to quell the questions, they're obviously in for a very, very rude awakening. Regardless, as I said yesterday in our Livestream Friday broadcast, I mean, the damage is already done, the polls are tightening, and there's little reason to even remotely consider the fact that Talafreako, as Trump likes to call him, even stands a remote chance of beating Ken Paxton, who's already won three statewide elections in a row in Texas as their attorney general.
So while the puzzle still remains, it does appear that we have found a very important piece.
