Albertan podcaster Derek Smith from the Unacceptable Fringe is back with news from Canada, where 90,000 jobs have been lost in the past couple of months, due to the trade war with the US and where a referendum on Albertan independence will be taking place on October 19th, following the victory last week of the separatist party in Québec.
In his victory speech on Monday, Québec’s newly-elected Premier, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon reiterated his party’s goal for Québec to become an independent country but he said that he would wait until Trump is no longer in office before holding a referendum.
The following day, Canada’s Prime Minister, Mark Carney went to Québec to make the case that Québec is stronger within Canada. Speaking in French, he announced that Canada will be launching a new alliance with the European Union at the upcoming EU Summit in Montréal on October 29th to 30th.
Derek grumbles that without any vote in Parliament, without any mandate from the Canadian people, Canada is set to become an Associate Member of a death-spiralling EU.
He says:
“What happens to Canada, now?…Brussels decides what Canada is going to do. Your rules and regulations, everything, everything is done now through Brussels, the ‘Euro-Poors’.
“They’re also proposing free travel, borderless travel without a passport between EU and Canada. What do you think is gonna happen to the wonderful newcomers that EU has imported? The ones that are burning down France right now?..
“I can tell you in the West, in Alberta where I live, none of us asked for this and we have a very important vote coming up October 19th to make a decision on what we’re going to do.”
Three weeks ago, Carney had promised that the final structure of this Associate Membership would be debated and voted on in the Canadian Parliament and that it would respect Canadian sovereignty, so we’ll see how this actually goes down.
Derek repeatedly refers to the EU as the “Euro-Poors”, because it has gone from having an economy that was 10% bigger than America’s in 2008 to now having an economy that is only two-thirds the size of America’s. During the same period, the EU’s output grew 13.5% while America’s grew 85%, with the US economy on track this year to be 1.4x the size of the EU’s.
Every day on his show, Derek asks why would Albertans would want to move closer to the trainwreck that is Europe, which is intent on taking as much Canadian taxpayer money as possible to fund its fruitless war against Russia in Ukraine, especially as 82% of Alberta’s trade is North-South, with the American states, not even with the rest of Canada?

Derek rails that Mark Carney’s government is corrupt and that the real reasons why he left his multi-million dollar job at Brookfield Asset Management to take the C$400,000 per year salary to be Canada’s Prime Minister of Canada was to enrich himself and his fellow Globalist banksters.
In that same speech in Québec last week, Carney announced that the Canadian government was going to spend $2 billion on heat pump rebates while Brookfield, the firm he chaired, owns the installers and rental companies that stand to profit.
Derek notes that Carney had lobbied Britain for the same subsidies, then parked his Brookfield stake in a blind trust.
He says:
“A conflict screen is not a clearance. Canadians deserve disclosure. Not another ‘Green’ program that enriches the man writing the checks…
“All the contracts in the country going out right now are either Westinghouse, Brookfield. We’ve shown, over in EU why this deal was done. Mark Carney’s Brookfield was given, I believe it was just over a $1 billion in nuclear contracts, as a result, it’s all to – you don’t leave a multi-million dollar job to take up salary for $400,000 a year!
“Keep in mind, over 90% of Mark Carney’s holdings are in the United States. The very country that he says we need to forget about. His wife works in the United States. His children go to Ivy League schools in the United States. He moved Brookfield to the United States!..
“And this is why it’s so crucial in Alberta that in the next week and a half, people realize what they’re actually voting for, when it comes to this referendum. It’s a referendum on a referendum.
“Do you either approve of the status quo; should nothing change, or should Alberta begin the process of forming a binding referendum to leave Canada?
“If you don’t vote for the referendum, you’re telling the government, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing.’ This isn’t about separation, yet. This is about sending a message to Ottawa and Albertans better realize what they’re actually doing.”

Derek Smith: You know, I have a confession to make. Every single day we sit down and think about what videos we’re gonna try to crank out on this channel for you to watch, and every day I say, “Surely it can’t get any worse tomorrow. Hopefully some good news comes out. Hopefully something changes.”

In fact, Mark Carney has taken a further step over the line and is continuing to show just how corrupt this government is and the real reasons why he left his multi-million dollar job to take up a $400,000 a year salary to be the Prime Minister of Canada, and things between Canada and America are not gonna get better anytime soon, folks.

Let’s get on what’s going on in Canada, because it’s so, so terrible. We have Mark Carney, here. Now, people have been saying, “Surely, Canada will go to the table with the United States before the Midterms. Surely Mark Carney will get his head out of his rear end and do what’s right for Canada.”
Absolutely not. Absolutely not. People told me that – in fact, skeptics – have told me, “There’s no way he’s gonna sign this Associate Membership with the EU. It’s not happening. It’s all just political bolstering.”

Let’s take a look at what’s actually happening in Canada and try to set the record straight for those people that are still on the fence. I don’t know why you would be.
The Carney Liberals just admitted on Wednesday that Canada may have already lost up to 90,000 jobs due to Trump’s tariffs.
First off, it’s not because of President Trump’s tariffs. It’s not because of the trade war. It’s because we have a Globalist banker in charge of our country who’s here for his own benefits.
And again, we’re gonna show the receipts. We’re gonna bring that all out in this video. Employment insurance claims are skyrocketing 400% in the most impacted parts of the country.
This isn’t because of President Trump. It’s Carney bringing in Chinese steel. It’s Euro-Poors. It’s everything.
I’m not laughing out of humor, folks. I’m laughing because it’s just so sad that people believe this nonsense.
Yesterday Mark Carney sat, showed his true colors. His true colors. Prime Minister Mark Carney is going to spend $2 billion. That’s with a B. Mark Carney: So let me give you the bottom line. Today we’re announcing more than $2 billion to deliver over 1 million home retrofits to lower energy costs and create additional savings for multi-unit buildings.
When fully taken up, these upgrades will save Canadian families more than 1 billion dollars every year on their energy bills.
Derek Smith: So they always try to do this. They’ve done this with their censorship laws in Canada.
They always try to prove how beneficial it is for Canadians. “Hey, don’t question what I’m doing. Don’t question the ethics or the conflicts of interest of what I’m doing here enriching the company I have a blind trust in.”
He constantly says he has a blind trust. In fact, one of the first viral clips of Mark Carney was when he told CBC to “Look inside themselves,” because he had a blind trust.
“Don’t worry. Don’t question what I’m doing. It’s a blind trust. It’s not a blind trust.”
Even those, like Howard Lutnick and Scott Bessent have come out and said there’s no such thing as a blind trust. If you carried a grocery bag around for years and then put it in your closet, you know damn well where that bag is, OK? You don’t forget just because it’s a behind a closed door.
Mark Carney knows the benefits go to Brookfield. We’ve shown video clips of him saying this is how they function. Policy pushes profits.
This is all to enrich Globalist bankers. This is why Brussels is happening. This is why China’s coming in. This is why, when steel jobs are getting shut down, because President Trump announces a new steel plant that’s gonna crank out steel in the United States. Mark Carney says, “Well, we’re gonna build a new LNG line in BC. We’re not going to use Canadian steel. We’re gonna bring in cheap Chinese steel.” Because that’s what they’re here for is their profits.
And it’s so alarming to me that so many people in Canada can’t see it for themselves. Here’s proof of that.
We showed this back in February. Unimaginable amount of money. Liberals gave Brookfield nine hundred – now it says B, it was actually $900 million.
Almost $1 billion worth of contracts since 2015. Now, Brookfield – or now Canada – has a Brookfield Prime Minister. How is this even allowed to happen?
Now, notice he says, “Great we’re compiling this information, Reclamare.” The account’s been suspended. Gee, I wonder why. I wonder why.
Now, they had the receipts. They had everything laid out. We showed it on other videos. I’m sure you can go back and find them in our videos back from February. But we highlighted this back then and said, “Yeah a huge conflict of interest.”
This is why Mark Carney was advising Justin Trudeau – pro bono, of course.

How can people – again – be so stupid? I know I sound like a broken record.
Ryan Gerritsen lays it out, here: “Carney’s heat pump announcement today sure feels like a conflict of interest, in my opinion.”
EnerCare, which provides home heating services and heat pump installations, is owned by Brookfield Infrastructure. This now means that a large government-funded push in heat pump adoption, $2 billion again, could directly expand the market for Brookfield-owned operating businesses.
Brookfield Renewable has been positioning its business around electrification and growing electricity demand. More heat pumps mean more electricity consumption, which should raise some eyebrows, due to Carney’s strategy to expand Canada’s grid and electrify our heating. People need to keep their eye on this announcement and the individuals it benefits. But they don’t.
And this is why it’s so crucial in Alberta that in the next week and a half, people realize what they’re actually voting for, when it comes to this referendum. It’s a referendum on a referendum.

Let’s take a look at the jobs, because we announced already, unemployment was up over 400%. Jobs created in 2026, negative 41,000 in Canada. Now this is all of 2026, plus 672,000 in America.
(Doing his Donald Trump impression) “Boy, you know, those Americans, they’re really wonderful at getting their jobs together. You know, they’re doing wonderful things, I gotta say. They need to build a wall away from Canada, at this point.”
672,000 jobs, negative 217 in Germany. Euro-Poors, again.
Mark Carney: “Let’s-pivot-away-from-the-United-States-and-join- the-dying-continent-on my-authority.” No vote on it.
Our economy is being shredded, due to the trade war. No one is coming to save us. No one. And I’m gonna show you that in a second. But here’s the job creation for Canada.
So in September, 68,000 jobs left the country. In August, 42,000. That’s over 110,000 jobs just in two months that have left Canada!
The job growth, by the way, they announced the job growth over the summer. I believe it was in August. Oh, there’s so many jobs that have been created in Canada. The majority of them were created in Alberta – you know, the province that’s talking about leaving, while jobs were fleeing Ontario for the United States?
In fact, you can see them down below, all growing, all growing. August, 162,000. Unbelievable.
And people get mad at President Trump. “Oh, he’s Orange Man Bad. He’s the boogeyman. He’s terrible. How could we ever side with President Trump?”
He’s making America – he’s literally making America Great Again!
I don’t understand! (Laughing) Here’s why things are never gonna change. And I keep pointing this out for anybody, because there’s so many people in this referendum that say, “Well, I’m gonna hold out for the Conservatives. I’m gonna hope that PP [Pierre Poilievre] wins the election.”
People have had enough of the Liberals. People have had enough of Mark Carney. I’m not even gonna bring in the map I usually bring into this podcast. The map that shows the Toronto region that is in charge of who runs the country. They will never vote for the Conservatives.
It’s like Sisyphus pushing a boulder uphill. It’s never gonna stop. It’s never gonna end.
The Liberals, if you look at Canada’s history, have governed for over 75% of our history as a country. It’s not gonna happen. Pierre Poilievre gets to live in a 19-room mansion paid for by taxpayers to essentially do what he’s doing here. And it’s not his fault, by the way. This is the system. This is why Alberta needs to vote to get away from it. This is the system we have. It never benefits actual Canadians. He gets to stand up and point out the elephant in the room and nothing happens.
Pierre Poilievre even comes out. “Mark Carney and the Liberal Club are costing you more. $2 billion in extra taxes and inflation to subsidize heat pumps. You know who owns the heat pump company? Brookfield.”
Then he – and this is again his job as opposition – Conservatives would leave the $2 billion in your pockets. It’s your money. But nobody will vote for them. So it doesn’t matter what he promises.
It doesn’t matter what he, everybody was blinded by this, including myself, in the last federal election. “We’re gonna ax the carbon tax. We’re gonna build the homes. We’re gonna stop the crime.” Slogan after slogan after slogan after slogan. It’s just paid opposition!
You can’t do anything if the people that are Woke, the people that are in charge of deciding who runs your country, never change anything.
Thankfully, in Alberta people are starting to wake up and I’m sincerely hoping we see a change on October 19th. Keep in mind we showed on our previous video how 500,000 of the 650,000 requested mail-in ballots haven’t been returned yet and there’s been several thousand denied, because people did not sign the declaration proving that they live in Alberta or that what they’re stating is true and punishable by law.
Telling you something about those votes that were, those ballots that were requested and they have to be in. Today is the final day, the deadline for mailing those in, folks.
So in Medicine Hat Alberta – it’s considered a city – packed house to see Keith Wilson, to listen to Keith Wilson speak.

Jason Kenney: There’s a reason why we are one of the wealthiest jurisdictions in North America. It’s because we know how to build. We know how to work towards the future. We know how to create alliances. We know how to be great Albertans and great Canadians at the same time. Let’s lead, not leave.

Keith Wilson: “Fight, fight, fight,” is what you heard. No, hang on. I don’t want you to applaud for this because let me put it in context.
Why is it that a province with people that work as hard as we do in Alberta, that contribute and send so much to Ottawa every year, why is it, when we are blessed with the third largest reserve of oil and gas in the world that we can safely deliver around the world and equally important to the largest customer in the world right across our border.
When we send all that money to Ottawa, the role we have in Confederation, why is it that we’re always having to fight for things? Why are we always having to go and beg? It makes no sense.
I’m certain, if the Martian came down and you explained what was going on here, he’d go, “Don’t you have Line 9 that supplies all most of the oil and gas to Ontario and Quebec, yeah, and then the TMX to Vancouver. What are you doing? Why are you always on your knees begging? Why are you always in court?”
And when you’re in court, because anybody got a plastic straw right now? Anybody got a plastic bag from Safeway? No, because Ottawa ignores the court rulings. They don’t care and my friend points out about, “Be careful before you tear down the fence,” and he also points out about the institution, the glory of the institutions.
Canada’s institutions with all due respect are corrupt and we’ve all witnessed it. We’ve all witnessed it and it’s tragic and it’s sad and you know whose hearts bleed the most when they see it? The veterans, because that’s not what they fought for. That’s not what they fought for, at all.
The Canada that exists today is not the Canada they fought for and the reality is, you know, bankruptcy in 1936. Alberta ain’t going bankrupt. Ottawa is. We need to separate from them.
When you’re told to be careful about what you tear down that fence, the truth of the matter, the sad truth of the matter is that fence that Mr Kenney describes is laying on the ground rotting and we need to build a new one for us.
Derek Smith: One of the smartest men that I know and have great admiration and respect for, Keith Wilson lays it out pretty pretty firm there.
The fence is rotting. This country needs an enema and hopefully Alberta is ready to administer it. Mark Carney’s here for his own gains.
The Liberals will never be voted out of power, not at this rate, and once EU gets in folks, it’s all over.
Alberta is being blessed with a golden ticket and I’m telling you right now, even if you’re on the Forever Canadian side, if you can’t look at what’s going on around you and realize you’re literally signing over the death of your country, you’re politically lost.
You need to make the decision October 19th to send the message to Ottawa to tell them we didn’t vote for this, to tell them that we’re not happy with this.
If you truly want unity, even if you’re on the Forever Canada side, you should want the Government to have to come to the table to take Alberta serious. As Keith says, we shouldn’t have to beg and we’re done begging. What we’re prepared to do is fight and I think we’re gonna win.
I think the writing is on the wall that an option to successful vote is on its way. I can tell you that’s how I will be voting if you haven’t clued in yet.
