Octopus Volcano

With underwater photography and a 2-man submarine, a group of scientists study the creatures that live along the marine slopes of the Stromboli volcano off the coast of Sicily.

This volcano has been continuously erupting for 2,000 years. The crew stumbles upon an ancient shipwreck and a rare sunfish at 1 km of depth.

The film includes an octopus love scene, an incredible octopus escape scene, a bunch of little baby octopuses hatching and several different displays of incredible intelligence by these amazing mollusks.

Fire and water and octopuses! Oh my! It’s hectic and dangerous for the divers but the octopuses know just when to dart quickly away to safety from the falling hot rocks that are constantly exploding around them. It turns out they can hear at infra-sound frequencies inaudible to humans – I love this!
