    This song and dance number, “Money Makes the World Go Around” is one of its most memorable scenes from ‘Cabaret’, directed by powerhouse choreographer-director, Bob Fosse and released in 1972. That same year, Fosse also won two Tony Awards (given to outstanding Broadway plays) for directing and choreographing ‘Pippin’, his biggest stage hit to date and later, he won the Primetime Emmy Award for directing and choreographing Liza Minnelli’s television special ‘Liza with a Z’, becoming the first Director to win all three awards in one year.

    For ‘Cabaret’, Liza Minnelli took the Academy Award for Best Actress and Joel Grey took the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor. The film also won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Sound, Best Original Song Score and Adaptation, and Best Film Editing. ‘Cabaret continues to holds the record for most Oscars earned by a film not honored for Best Picture.
