Ned Sullivan was in a car accident, in which his neck was broken and he suffered a severe brain injury. The doctors said he was never going to move again, never going to talk again, never going to eat again.
Through his own resilience and with the help of Kasey, a capuchin monkey, he is able to all of the above.
The Helping Hands Foundation trains and places capuchin monkeys in the homes of people with spinal cord and brain injuries, in a remarkably successful program, which offers more than just help but as Ned points out, solace and solidarity.
Due to various laws governing animals and people, this program is, to date only available in the US.
