“After cars go electric and autonomous, the next big disruption will be in airplanes,” says Maurice Ricci, French entrepreneur and CEO of Akka Technologies, in his “Link & Fly” pitch to Boeing.

Passengers would take a local train the size of an Airbus A320 to the airport, where deltoid wings would be attached for take-off. The detachable wings make turnover at airports faster and boarding closer to home easier. Cargo models will be autonomous.

It looks even cooler than it sounds (which is quieter than a commercial airliner).

  • I was skeptical at first until I viewed the video. Kind of a neat idea. However… I read that one airline was ripping out some lavatories so they could add more seats. (Brilliant idea… NOT!) Perhaps AKKA would have passenger comfort in mind or these pods might just as well be cattle cars…MOO!

  • Be all means Boeing and Airbus. But if you want to arm one for Rothschild, please include Lockheed. Maybe Musk alternative will have an ejector seat.
