To understand how fluoride came to permeate the water supply in the United States you must understand history.

The substances derived from fluorine gas put into the water have many industrial uses, and protection of human tooth enamel is not necessarily the most important.

Until the 1940s, Russians and Germans fluoridated their water. But not for mental health.

It was because they believed fluoride promoted passivity . . .
