Fibonacci sequences appear in biological settings, in two consecutive Fibonacci numbers, such as branching in trees, arrangement of leaves on a stem, the fruitlets of a pineapple, the flowering of artichoke, an uncurling fern and the arrangement of a pine cone.
In this video, you will see 3D printed sculptures designed to come to life when spinning under a strobe light. The placement of the pieces of the sculpture follow the same points used in sunflowers and pinecones. The rotation is done so the sculpture spins exactly 137.5ºfor every flash of light. 137.5ºis known as the Golden Angle. If you count the spirals on any of the sculptures in this video they will all match up perfectly with Fibonacci numbers.
