Fake People

The relentless stampede of Artificial Intelligence will soon obviate the need for photographers and models. NVIDIA, a Silicon Valley company best known for making graphics processing units for video games has developed a way to generate very realistic images of fake people by means of what’s called a generative adversarial network (GAN).

GANs are a class of AI algorithms used in unsupervised machine learning, executed by a system of two neural networks contesting with each other in a zero-sum game framework. These images took 8 days to process.

Why am I struck by the sense that humans are engineering their own redundancy?
