Escaping from North Korea

This South Korean-French production is about people escaping North Korea. They risk execution if caught.

It’s an amazing document, filmed in night-vision and with hidden-camera. We see scenes of North Korean traffickers who bribe DPRK border guards to sell North Korean women to Chinese pimps. The Korean trafficker also sells heroin that he claims is made by the government of the DPRK.

A Christian pastor from South Korea has a network which helps a couple dozen escapees every year relocate to South Korea via an arduous route across China, trekking through the Laotian jungle and across the Mekong River to Thailand. There, they board a plane back north for their new home in Seoul.

Their journey is affecting.
