Protecting humans from harm by external means is a fools errand. We ought to know better by now having experimented with the protection racket approach to problem solving for over a century.
It is not possible to educate enough, regulate enough, create enough instutions, tax enough, have enough laws and enforcement, create and staff enough prisons and all the other service professions such as required to tinker with our bodies without having some kind of religious oriented internal means of control. But we sure been atryin!

When Christianity became so authoritarian, over bearing and intolerable in Europe, Europeans thought to flee to America and establish a Christian society without the authoritarian elements and it worked fairly well for a season. It wasn’t perfect, but it was better than enslavement to authoritarian kings and religious potentates.
Sadly by the 20th century Americans began to mindlesly dismantle their freedoms brick by brick and have arrived right back from whence our forefathers fled. Protection rackets such as Obamacare was a significant watershed, soon followed by Homeland Security. Total losses of state and local contols! Worst move of all has been the loss of local control of elections, even moving the ballot tally custody offshore into the hands of secretive corporate care. Stupid is as stupid does!
How in the world did we lose America like this?
By adopting secular humanism in all our educational institutions, including churches. By the 1960’s many of us saw it in public education and we pulled our kids out of it. It had begun with education guru Horace Mann, fine tuned by communist John Dewey, and promoted by Columbia Teachers College. It’s never been a secret. By the 60’s it had metastasized in public education by way of Hegelian relativism combined with Darwinism, not yet factual, just Darwins hypothesis. That’s how it was introduced. In just a few years it became fact through the persitent use of Hegels relativistic arguments. A mile is a pile, but an inch at a time is a cinch.
Dewey was a radical educator who made no bones about his detestation of American Christian education, he wanted the Christian element banished! Because of it he wanted to replace classic public education with vocational education and he succeded with the aid of public largess and tax free foundation funding. In other words Americans paid Dewey and like ilk to subvert their children.
In the 1940’s and 50’s the Federal courts cjipped away at the Decalogue, first in public schools, later this carried over into state and local courts using the same Hegelian methology. Meanwhile Scofield’s Dispensationalism had been eating up the Decalogue in churches with far more subtilty which I will not tackle here because it’s quite complex.
By removing the Decalogue from the school house, the court house and the church house, we’ve consented to removing it from our childrens minds who are the nations future governors. The Decalogue contains the road markers, which when internalized regulate human behavior. The anti-Christ Federal courts clearly told us that is no longer permissible. So did Joe Biden when he was the Senate gate keeper for Federal Judge appointments. So did Scofield when he told church men and women that the Decalogue had been abolished, and fools in pulpits believed him instead of Christ who affiirmed the Decalogue in both word and deed ‘until the earth and sky are no more’. What’s so hard to understand?
This is how America got detached from it’s roots and it was lost, one mind at a time, our internal moral rudder broken-on purpose! But there is a remnant, will they have the courage to rise up to the occasion?
You are very astute you have put in words what many Christians feel. Knowledge is power and for Christians the bible is true ” my people perish for lack of knowledge”. The preachers are brain washed and so are the people, they don’t want to hear the truth when you try to tell them they ostracized you… We cannot exist without a solid moral foundation and that foundation is JESUS!!!!!!!!
