In China, the government censors Web discussions of the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, of the Falun Gong spiritual and meditative movement. Complicit in its attacks on freedom of expression are American companies, such as the Mountain View, Calif.-based LinkedIn, the most popular professional social network in the world.

Last year, LinkedIn even told Suman Srinivasan, a Goldman Sachs employee based in the United States, that due to political pressure Chinese users would be unable to view his professional profile as long as it mentioned his practicing Falun Gong.
