Here’s an opportunity to watch a recently-released, highly-reviewed film that I’m not sure will stay up for long. This is the story of Bill Binney, former Technical director of NSA and a program he created called ThinThread.
In a secret test-run of the program against the pre-9/11-NSA database in early 2002, ThinThread immediately found the terrorists. Binney is certain that if it weren’t for the fraud waste and abuse that reigned at NSA, which prevented
ThinThread from being operational at the time of the attacks, 9/11 could have been prevented.
It wasn’t, because the software was too cheap to be a profit center for the contracting class that many feel has unduly encroached on US government agencies.
