Donations swarmed into the Red Cross following a 2010 earthquake that killed a hundred thousand Haitians. Though the Red Cross would since boast having established housing for 130,000 people, this winter the Center for Economic and Policy Research reported that the Washington-based charity built only six permanent homes.

Harrowing images of the dead and displaced flowing out of the impoverished island nation inspired altruism along with a half billion dollars of donations to the Red Cross.

The Red Cross told RT that the organization has “made a difference in the lives of millions of Haitians who desperately need help and humanitarian assistance.”
