The spider-tailed horned viper only surfaced in 2006. The Southwest Asian reptile is as rare as it is fascinating, due to its patience and cunning. Laying camouflaged against rocks, the viper will gyrate its prominent tail, attracting the attention of nearby birds. The tail exemplifies adaptation to very specific prey and modes of survival.
