There are places around earth’s great cities where the natural world has disappeared. You can make out all of the manifestations of humans but not a blade of grass, a tree or a nonhuman animal.
Only when you look up through the skyscrapers can you perhaps remind yourself of what was there before humans: the stars. Humans have transformed the earth for their convenience. But their impact on the universe is relatively insignificant.
