A grandmother in the United States has regained her sight. She had been blind for nine years.
But thanks to a remarkable new surgical procedure, one of her teeth (one of her eye teeth! Get it?) has been turned into a new eye.
Her tooth was ground into shape to form a base into which to place a prosthetic lens. This worked largely because her optic nerve and cornea were already largely intact.
