By now, many people have seen the KCBS traffic helicopter footage of a “Mystery Missile” flying over the Pacific and Los Angeles County on the evening of November 9, 2010.

In the absence of any official announcement, other than the Pentagon’s initial reaction that it was “Totally bizarre,” many people were left speculating about what it could be, as the news spread around the world.

This report from a Russian news source made on the evening of November 10 had a very different take on what occurred than what was being reported in the US media on November 11. One might suppose the Russians could not resist making hay out of the momentous opportunity created by 36 hours of indecisive statements by the Pentagon…

When questioned about the “Mystery Missile,” Russian Military Expert, Viktor Mizin said that this event showed that the US was “still vulnerable” to “unwarranted attack.”

What this statement was essentially suggesting was that the “Mystery Missile” was a warning shot fired at the US by non-US military…

This was Mizin’s full statement in the report: “Experts agree that it’s the launch of a ballistic missile and probably underwater and I think that’s a great embarrassment for the American military to show that for all of the billions spent on the national defense, the United States is basically still vulnerable to this kind of unwarranted attack.”

Russia Today Producer in Los Angeles, Ramon Galindo followed up with the statement that “There have been several military mistakes in the past that involved high-grade weapons and military officers have been disciplined but until NORAD and the Pentagon tell us exactly who launched this missile, we won’t know who will be held accountable.”

We can finally rest assured that no one will be held accountable, at least not publicly. Fully 36 hours after the event, the Pentagon termed the object to be a commercial airplane and that any resemblance between its luxuriant contrail and the raging exhaust of solid rocket fuel was an “optical illusion.”
