This April 2010 Pentagon TV broadcast states that the Boeing X-37B will be folded into future programs that support US “war fighters.”
Previously, the Air Force denied that the Boeing X-37B had “anything to do with the weaponization of space,” insisting that it was part of the next line of aircraft to perform Space Shuttle-like experiments. The Space Shuttle is scheduled for retirement in 2011.
The 1967 Outer Space Treaty has been agreed to by the US and 124 other countries, however this agreement appears to be increasingly tenuous. Joseph W. Ashy, Commander-in-Chief of US Strategic Command (1994–1996) admitted that space warfare was “politically sensitive, but it’s going to happen,” and in 2009, China’s General Xu Qiliang said, “[space warfare] is a historical inevitability and a development that cannot be turned back.”
