The Lavon Affair was an Israeli terror operation in Egypt known as Operation Susannah. In the operation, Israelis bombed Egyptian, British and American targets in the Summer of 1954.

In the early ’50s the United States was becoming friendlier with Egypt and influencing the British to leave the Suez Canal, which they had managed for years. Not wishing the British to leave, elements inside of Israel began planning attacks to deter the leave.

These Israeli radicals successfully framed alleged Islamic radicals. Some, particularly in North Africa/Southwest Asia, claim that 9/11 was a similarly motivated operation.
