A Seattle protest against police brutality and capitalism turned violent May 1 when attendees began breaking windows and throwing objects at police, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. When Shayne Butts, who said he supported capitalism, showed up and peacefully brandished an SKS semi-automatic rifle under the aegis of the First and Second Amendments, other marchers objected. They accused Butts of racism and attempted to block his path along the street as he open-carried.
