Jack Wilson, here portrayed by Wes Studi in a historical dramatization, was a Northern Paiute late 19th, early 20th century prophet who taught a form of the “Ghost Dance.” He was also known as Wovoka.
The Ghost Dance preached a peaceful end to white expansion, as well as cross-cultural cooperation.
Among the Paiute native peoples he was alleged to have the capacity to control weather, or even use his hands to form icicles.
