What happens when we die? Do we cease to exist or do we survive in some form? What makes us unique, conscious being seems to be too big of a problem for science at all.
Eben Alexander taught neurosurgery at Harvard Medical for 15 years. His bacterial meningitis attacked the outer surface of his brain, covering it with puss. During seven days of brain death, from which he has totally recovered, he got what he called an “earthworm-like” view of the earth. He forgot everything in his life, all his words, memories.
A “melody,” he says, spun in front of him and cleaned away a muddy realm. Then, without body awareness, he came up into a beautiful meadow, as a speck on a butterfly wing.
Then he left the universe to go “the core,” aware of the presence of the divine.
